Temporary ban on the entry of 9 agricultural products into Iraq

Iran's Trade Development Organization sent letters to the Tehran Chamber of Commerce informing them of the ban on the import of nine agricultural products to Iraq and demanded that economic activists be informed about this.

According to the letter, the import of tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, pumpkins, almonds, watermelon, tallow and papaya to Iraq is prohibited until further notice. This decision was made by the Council of Ministers of Economy, on the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and due to the abundance of domestic production.

Abdul-Amir Rabiahi, Iran's trade representative in Baghdad, announced that the ban on the import of these nine products, which was taken at the 15th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Economy of Iraq, was issued by the office of Fuad Hussain, Deputy Prime Minister of the country, and the entry of these products to Iraq will be banned until further notice. This is something that Iranian exporters should be aware of.

According to the details provided by the Iranian Reisen in Iraq, it seems that the program has been implemented globally and the import of these products from other countries to Iraq will also be prohibited, and the issue is not only related to Iranian traders.

Based on the exports, Iraq is the second largest export destination for Iranian goods after China, and a diverse basket of Iranian goods has been exported to the country in recent years.
